If you’re in the area, make sure to visit Hokkaido’s second largest winter festival – the Asahikawa Winter Festival.
This festival features world-class, giant snow and ice sculptures
made in a different theme each year and displayed in two locations; Asahibashi Bridge Site and Heiwadori Shopping Park Site. Whether visiting during the day or at night, there are numerous attractions to enjoy, such as the projection mapping show (a show of light, sound and moving images), an ice slide, banana boat and rafting on snow and many more.
When visiting the festival, make sure to visit the food stalls to savor some delicious local foods.
Next year’s festival will be held between 6 - 11 February 2019.
