About

Farm Hoshino Initiatives
Hoshino Resort offers experiences related to the culture, industry, and local activities that are unique to the area.
"Farm Hoshino" was started in the belief that the beautiful scenery created by agriculture provides relaxation to travelers and that the agricultural products produced there enrich the travel experience.
In realizing these experiences, we are conducting production activities at Hoshino Resorts TOMAMU.
Tomamu was an area where about 700 head of cattle were raised and farmed until it was developed as a resort. The resort operates a farm area of approximately 100 hectares in the hope that visitors can enjoy the original beauty of this land.
Creating beautiful landscapes born from agriculture
Currently, we are working on an approximately 100-hectare property located at Hoshino Resorts TOMAMU. Surrounded by the lush green mountains and forests of Tomamu, cattle, sheep, goats, and horses graze on the land. The grass is also grown to feed the animals, and plowed fields and grass bales are scattered throughout the area. The landscape is typical of Hokkaido, with nature stretching far into the distance.
Raising cattle in an environment close to nature
Farm Hoshino began raising 5 dairy "Holsteins" in June 2018 and now has about 30 cows, including "Brown Swiss". From spring to fall, the cows are raised on pasture rather than in barns, providing them with ample green grass to eat. Tomamu's cool climate is said to be suitable for dairy cows, which are sensitive to heat.
We also chose to raise our cows in a way that allows them to spend their time spontaneously, taking advantage of the large space available to them so that they can spend their time without stress. Raising cows in a way that is close to nature is also conducive to producing delicious products.

Production activities born from the richness of nature
In August 2018, the company began producing milk. In order for our customers to enjoy the original flavor of milk, we use "pasteurization" and "non-homogenization," a process that does not homogenize the milk fat contained in the milk.
From spring to fall, dairy cows grow up eating green grass, and the milk is characterized by its sweet taste and refreshing aftertaste.
On a typical day, one dairy cow can milk approximately 30 liters per day, which is served at the buffet restaurant and café in Hoshino Resorts TOMAMU. It is also sold in the hotel's store.
In April 2019, the production of soft serve made from this milk began, and in July 2020, a wide range of dairy product processing, including several types of cheese, also began. Various kinds of cheese are offered at OTTO SETTE TOMAMU, the main dining room in RISONARE Tomamu, and TOMAMU Wine House on hotalu street.
